Focus on Nature will teach us about nature photography and then we will head out into the park to practice what we have learned.
The Region of Waterloo is one of the largest communities in Canada that relies almost solely on groundwater for its municipal water supply. In this presentation, Steve will talk about groundwater resources in the Region and how the groundwater system is connected to the water cycle of the Grand River watershed. His talk will include a summary of threats to both our water quality and quantity.
Let’s join Paul General as he gives a brief history of the Six Nations Confederacy (Haudenosaunee) and how they arrived to the Grand River. He will also talk about some of the last stands of Carolinian forest in southwestern Ontario, agricultural practices, and short-sighted engineering/planning.
Explore the park and check out an interesting natural structure built by a Forest School that meets in the park. (Our wilderness survival event has been re-scheduled to January 25.)
