Groundwater Resources and the Grand River Watershed

Monday, October 28 @ 7:30 pm

The Region of Waterloo is one of the largest communities in Canada that relies almost solely on groundwater for its municipal water supply.   Let’s join Steve Shikaze as he talks about groundwater resources in the Region and how the groundwater system is connected to the water cycle of the Grand River watershed. His talk will include a summary of threats to both our water quality and quantity.

Steve Shikaze (P.Eng., M.Sc.) is a semi-retired hydrogeologist with over 30 years of experience as an academic, researcher and consulting. He has worked on water resources, contamination and mining projects in Canada, USA and South America. He currently works part-time with the Oak Ridges Moraine Groundwater Program and volunteers with Water Cycles Expeditions, an organization that is connecting people with water through cycling. He writes about water issues around the world in his online newsletter TheWaterDroplet.substack.com  He’s an active cyclist who also spends time hiking and camping.
