Description: At the end of April the GRCA conducted a prescribed burn in the tallgrass prairie area at the FWR Dickson Wilderness Conservation Area.The purpose was to knock back invasive plants that had invaded the area and to encourage the growth of native tallgrass species. A significant part of southern part of Waterloo Region was historically covered with tallgrass prairie plants. We will walk around the burned area to see what regeneration has occurred.
Dress for the weather and bring water. Long pants and sturdy footwear would be a good idea. Washrooms are not available.
Registration required. Limit of 12 participants. Non-members are welcome. All participants will need to sign an insurance waiver.
