Bird Banding Demonstration

Banding birds has provided valuable information to researchers about bird ecology,
migration routes and population dynamics. A group of volunteers led by Bird Bander
Kevin Grundy has been banding birds during the spring and fall migrations at rare since 2008. Join
us for a close-up look at what is involved in bird banding. Observe how the birds are captured and
banded and what information is collected from each bird. You will have a unique opportunity to
observe close-up some of the bird species that breed at rare or migrate through the property.
Children are most welcome!
Accessibility: Some easy walking is optional; highly accessible for all ages. Washrooms available.
