WRN Teens – Salamanders and Nest Boxes

Saturday, October 31

We will be continuing with our salamander monitoring for about 2 hours, then during the 3rd hour we will walk to the north part of the property and have our nesting box introduction with David Gascoigne.
About the the nesting box project:
COVID prevented us from launching the main part of our biggest project yet, doing monitoring of bird nesting boxes all spring and summer!  We hope to start in the spring of 2021.
The very first part of the project was doing woodworking and building a few boxes with Mike Smith this past winter.  On Oct 31, we will have our onsite introduction to where the boxes have been installed and what monitoring involves.  (We won’t be doing any actual monitoring since the birds are gone and the boxes have been cleaned and closed for the winter.)
This is real biology work, monitoring species, and contributing data to scientific knowledge as citizen scientists.
