The Journey Of Water From Source To Tap

Monday, May 30, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Journey Of Water From Source To Tap
Have you ever wondered where the water that you drink comes from? Have you ever thought about the challenges encountered in the path water undergoes to reach us and sustain us? This talk will focus on water resources in Canada, especially in the Waterloo Region. It will cover the journey of water from a source to our taps, and the technologies and policies in place to ensure the supply of safe drinking water. We will also take a look at the impacts of climate change and unsustainable human intervention on water resources, and how we can overcome them.
The speaker:

Kirti Nemani is a PhD student at the University of Waterloo and her primary area of interest is Water. Her current research investigates the climate adaptation of drinking water treatment utilities for the water quality changes that are becoming more common and more adverse due to climate change. She has a wealth of experience working in the water industry already. She enjoys volunteering activities and has worked as the Outreach executive with SWIGS (Students of Water Institute Graduate Section). She is passionate about climate change, environmentalism and research.
