An easy walk with birds and more

When: Saturday, 22 November, 9:00 am – 12 noon.

Where: The Mill Race Trail, St. Jacobs. Meet at the parking lot on Three Bridges Road near the bridge over the Conestogo River, St. Jacobs.

Description: The Mill Race Trail is an easy walk, for the most part on flat level ground. You will be able to feed Black-capped Chickadees from the hand, with a very good chance that White-breasted Nuthatches will join them. Occasionally even a Downy Woodpecker will take seed from your hand. We may also see Red-bellied Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker, and by mid-November, migrants like Dark-eyed Junco, American Tree Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow and possibly others should have taken up residence for the winter. Cedar Waxwings are often seen, a late Rusty Blackbird is always possible, perhaps even Pine Siskins. Mink and Muskrats may put on a show for us. The Conestogo River should yield waterfowl and gulls. At the halfway point we will visit the Eco Café in St. Jacobs to have a coffee and use the washrooms.
