Join Stewart MacDonald for this full day Outing to the Long Point and Surrounding area.
We will be arriving in the midst of Fall Migration for Songbirds and Shorebirds and will be observing the staging area for Waterfowl, which will be gathering for their Southern Migration later in the Fall.
Long Point Provincial Park is the 4th Oldest Provincial Park in Ontario and is located within a Designated World Biosphere. We will be concentrating on Songbird Identification in the Morning. After a lunch break, we will seek out Shorebirds, Waterfowl and Marsh Birds in the area.
The Group will meet at the Long Point Bird Observatory at the Old Cut Bird Banding Station. There is ample parking there and a bathroom.
What to bring:
You should dress for the weather that is forecasted, as the Outing will proceed “RAIN OR SHINE”. Wear comfortable footwear and bring your binoculars, lunch, snacks and water.
A Spotting Scope will be provided, but feel free to bring your own Spotting Scope if you wish.
