Join local author Dana L. Church as she discusses her nonfiction book The Beekeepers: How Humans Changed the World of Bumble Bees.

She’ll touch on topics such as,

What are bumble bees, anyway?
Why are they important?
Are bumble bees in trouble?
What can we do to help save the bees?

She’ll talk about why she loves bumble bees so much (it has something to do with a “bee disaster”), and other fascinating species, like squash bees. There will also be a sneak peek into her two upcoming books on animal minds and monarch butterflies.

Dana L. Church is the author of The Beekeepers: How Humans Changed the World of Bumblebees. She studied bumble bees for her PhD at the University of Ottawa—and she was never stung. Dana has two new books being released in 2024: Animal Minds: What Are They Thinking? from Orca Book Publishers, and The Monarch Effect: Surviving Poison, Predators, and People from Scholastic Focus. Dana lives in Waterloo, Ontario, with her husband, two children, and a big, black, friendly dog.
